I enjoyed writing my narrative more in-depth this past week and I’m excited to receive feedback on what to incorporate into my project. I realize I spent too much time focusing on the beginning and storyline of my game that I didn’t focus on where to implement variables and stats…

I had a lot of fun last week doing the research for my world because I gained so much insight as to what I could shape my world into. I first heard the term “worldbuilding’’ a couple of months ago after speaking with Carla Gannis about my upcoming thesis project…

Last week’s Dissecting Gameplay assignment was challenging, yet enjoyable and really got me to think about how I can translate video games into game boards, even if the Super Mario game board I created is minimal compared to the actual video game. I honestly was a bit worried about how…

I enjoyed learning about game systems this week and learning how to focus on their core components like goals, rules, mechanics, genres, worlds, narratives, and aesthetics. Dissecting games is such an interesting concept because you reverse how the game designer(s) built the entire game. These components along with the meaning…

I never really was a big gamer growing up, however, I had phases of playing Sims or Wii throughout my time in middle and high school. Back then, I used to not think much of playing video games, even though I was bound to a set of rules in games…

After four weeks of playing around with my animations, audio, type, and transitions in After Effects, I must say I’m pleased with the result. I chose a piece of audio from the movie, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, my favorite movie. I started off with a storyboard, which now…

Sasha responded “in design processes, everything going remote has a real downfall,” although she also mentioned “there’s some ways companies have…

Final Report

While this semester has been challenging for me to ideate concepts for my thesis project, I feel like I finally have a concrete idea for what I’d like to create. I first considered things I was passionate about, one…

Over this past week, I made some slight adjustments to my motion design through feedback I received in desk crits:

  • I adjusted my audio to align with my keyframe and text/transitions.
  • I removed the screenshots of colors I chose from Google Images and replaced them with solid colors from After Effects.
  • The yellow text (Clementine’s lines) now slowly change from yellow to brown and vice-versa on a few lines.
  • You’ll notice the magenta solid fades to a cooler purple.
Some of the text transitions have been adjusted with more effects/animations.
  • The clip itself is longer.

I have to say, last week’s lecture was my favorite one this semester because I learned so much about how colonialism, imperialism, and nationalism have shaped our whole world and how society runs today. While I learned about this material in high school, I feel like I obtained more from…
